Township is 6 miles by 6 miles containing cities, towns and villages of Bolingbrook (majority) , Lemont (small portion) ,
Lockport (small portion), Naperville (Southeast quarter -small portion), Plainfield (small portion), Romeoville (North half),
and Woodridge (small portion). Also includes unincorporated areas.
Township is located in the norther part of Will County, and was organized as a township in 1850, under the
law of 1849, relating to the organizations of townships. However, Township governmental bodies have been
in operation since the mid-1800’s.

Surveys of DuPage Township Land southeast of the Indian Boundary Line was surveyed in 1821 -1822; land to the northwest was surveyed in 1837-1838.
1873 There was a Map made. It shows Barber’s Corners in what is now Bolingbrook and shows Town of Martin’s Landing (instead of Romeoville).
